The Morning Briefing: McCabe's Secret Letter About Comey Firing and Much, Much More

Donald Trump

Good Thursday morning.

I do not have the president’s agenda today.

Memo revealed: “Andy’s office” McCabe “worried” Rosenstein covered for Trump’s firing of Comey

Andrew McCabe, famous for his office where an “insurance policy” was hatched to obstruct Trump if he were to win the presidency, has turned over a memo detailing his concern that acting Attorney General Rosenstein provided cover for President Trump to fire James Comey. As you know, Comey is the highly emotional and righteous Twitter celebrity who was also director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In the meeting, Rosenstein said President Donald Trump had initially asked him to reference the Russia investigation. Rosenstein ultimately authored a controversial memo outlining the ways Comey had flouted Justice Department protocols leading up to the 2016 election but did not mention the Russia probe.

The source confirmed to CNN that McCabe’s memo recounting this meeting with Rosenstein, as well as an early draft of Trump’s letter firing Comey, has been turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller. What exactly Trump’s draft letter says and when it was turned over remain unclear.

Here’s a fun fact: if Trump is being investigated for obstructing justice by firing Comey, guess who is also under some legal scrutiny? Mr. Rosenstein. He should recuse himself but he won’t because the laws only apply to certain people these days. Another fun fact: Rosenstein signed one of the FISA warrants based on the fake dossier, according to the beltway chatter.

McCabe was fired for making unauthorized leaks to the media as was revealed in a report from the inspector general.

Media continues to harass Trump over Roseanne tweet

Take note — this is a commonly used tactic by the left: they pick an outlier, equate their target with the outlier, and by some transitive legerdemain, force the target to accept blame for the outlier’s behavior or statements. And for the left, there are no political differences, only moral differences. Your positions on immigration, abortion, taxes are all moral failings on your part. RESIST and so on…

Why should Trump have to apologize for or “weigh in” on Roseanne’s tweets? They weren’t his tweet and believe me, he has his own tweets to manage.

Business Insider, which suffers from stage 5 Trump derangement syndrome wants you to know that President Trump has broken his silence on the Roseanne “scandal.”

“Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that ‘ABC does not tolerate comments like those’ made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?” Trump tweeted.

And he’s right. Trump and his supporters have been called all sorts of race-based names and are regularly accused of racism based on policy differences.

I never watched the reboot, but from what I understand, the show was not a pro-Trump commercial, but rather the show that portrayed the main character of Trumpster Roseanne in a positive light. That’s the crime.
