Obama Meets with Bloomberg, Readies New Gun Control Executive Actions

President Obama met with gun control proponent, nanny-statist, and former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg yesterday to discuss Obama’s imminent executive actions to restrict the Second Amendment.

The meeting was not on the president’s public schedule but obviously revealed after the fact to the press.

The conclave was “part of the administration’s continuing push to address gun violence in America,” the White House said in a statement.

“The two discussed ways to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have access to them and what more could be done at the state and local level to help address gun violence in America,” the White House added.

Valerie Jarrett, who is spearheading the administration’s gun control push, also attended the meeting.

The president has been meeting with many of the political celebrities on the gun control circuit like former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. The two met last week to discuss the issue.

Jarret said last week that the unconstitutional executive action is in its final stages. We don’t know exactly when the executive actions will be released, but I’m betting on a big, fat gun control Christmas present from the White House. (They aren’t going to call it a Christmas present, of course.) Jarret said the new action will be revealed in “short order.”

CNN reports one of the most likely gun control options is to close the mythical “gun show loophole” and prevent people from purchasing firearms without a background check. Federal law requires that all firearms consumers undergo a background check if they want to purchase a gun via a gun dealer. Private sales, also known as “the gun show loophole,” do not have this requirement.

Eighteen states have expanded background checks beyond the federal requirement and have mandated that buyers engaged in the private sales of firearms are required to have a background check. WARNING: This link goes to a gun control propaganda site.

Crime expert John Lott estimates that the percentage of private firearms sales is in the single digits. “It’s hard to believe that the percentage of sales without background checks is above single digits today.”

Here’s a list of most of the high-profile gun murders and how the shooters got their guns — and it’s not through private sales.

We know that the Oregon shooter purchased his weapons legally and passed a background check to do so. “All were traced to a federal firearms dealer,” said Celinez Nunez, an agent with the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The Sandy Hook shooter stole weapons from his mother.

The Aurora movie theater shooter bought his guns legally and passed a  background check.

The man who shot former congresswoman and gun-control activist Gabrielle Giffords passed a background check.

The man who shot two Virgina journalists live on the air passed a background check.

We can now add that the terrorists in San Bernardino used weapons obtained through a straw purchase because Syed Farook was worried about passing a background check.

An FBI source said Farook wanted to make sure “the guns were not tied back to him” and he feared he “wouldn’t pass a background check.”  California is one of the states that requires all firearms transfers be conducted through a licensed dealer.  Closing “the gun show loophole” would not have stopped the San Bernardino terrorists.

In other words, criminals will do what they need to do to get around the law. If this is indeed part of the administration’s executive action, expect it to have no effect on gun violence. None.
