A newlywed couple on their honeymoon in Honduras has suffered incredible loss.

Egael Tishman, 24, and Shif Fanken, 27, were married last week, and a day later flew down to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to board the Allure of the Seas ship for their 7-night Royal Caribbean cruise. The couple had booked the Extreme Caribe Zip Line Tour through the Royal Caribbean website, and it was this excursion on Roatan, one of Honduras’ Caribbean Bay Islands, that resulted in their unfortunate accident.

According to Inside Edition, “Franken had gone down the zip line first when authorities said she got stuck about halfway down the line. They collided when Tishman went down the zip line shortly after.”

Both were conscious when they were recovered from the wooded area but had endured serious injuries, including broken ribs. Roatan Fire Department commander Wilmer Guerrero told the Washington Post that Tishman complained that he couldn’t breathe.

The young man died from what is believed to be a brain hemmorage hours after he was admitted to the hospital. The young woman was airlifted to a hospital in the United States, where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Fortunately, she has survived the accident.

Tishman will be buried in Israel, and the Israeli Embassy in Guatemala is currently arranging for his body to be flown there.
