AOC: Marginalized People Around the World 'Have No Choice But to Riot'

One of my rules of thumb is that liberals want conservatives to shut up, and conservatives want liberals to keep talking. The more libs babble and the more of their worldview they reveal to the world, the more Americans they alienate on Election Day. And when it comes to driving away prospective voters, nobody’s better than the new face of the Democratic Party: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Here’s AOC’s latest delicious bon mot, courtesy of Rachel Frazin at The Hill:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said this week during an appearance on Ebro in the Morning that marginalized communities have “no choice but to riot…”

Her remarks came during a discussion of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but Ocasio-Cortez clarified that she was talking about marginalized groups more generally.

“I don’t think that by marginalizing Palestinians, you create safety. I believe that injustice is a threat to the safety of all people. Because once you have a group that is marginalized and marginalized and marginalized, then you create a… Once someone doesn’t have access to clean water, they have no choice but to riot. Right? And it doesn’t have to be that way. And I’m not even talking about Palestinians, I’m talking about communities in poverty in the United States, I’m talking about Latin America, I’m talking about, like, all over the world. And we experienced times like that in our history, in this country. We had riots in 1968, the Bronx was burning. Social destabilization is what happens when people do not have a plan, or feel like there’s no vision for their future.”

That’s a U.S. politician saying publicly that not only is it okay for people to riot in the streets, but that they actually have no choice. They’re not responsible for their own actions. They have no human agency. They’re being controlled by whomever isn’t giving them what they want.

And who decides which communities are “marginalized” and which ones aren’t? Who grants them such a license to commit violence? Not you or me, bub.

Of course, it’s okay for AOC to say such things because she’s not a Republican. And besides, hasn’t Trump said some stupid things about public violence? Harrumph, harrumph, hand-wave, hand-wave.

You have a choice. You’re responsible for your own actions. No matter what idiots like AOC tell you.
