MoveOn.org is planning massive demonstrations across the nation — including outside the White House — Thursday afternoon to protest President Trump’s decision to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“Donald Trump just crossed a red line, violating the independence of the investigation pursuing criminal charges in the Trump-Russia scandal and cover-up,” the Soros-funded organization wrote in a post announcing the protests.

“Trump putting himself above the law is a threat to our democracy, and we’ve got to get Congress to stop him. We’re mobilizing immediately to demand accountability, because Trump is not above the law,” the MoveOn post continued. Rallies are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.

The organized left threatened to hold rapid-response demonstrations last spring after President Trump threatened to fire Mueller. Last April, the left-wing network organized 800+ “emergency” Nobody Is Above the Law rallies around the country in the event Trump fired Mueller — which never happened.

Now they finally have an excuse to hold their long-planned “Nobody is Above the Law” rallies.

In Washington, D.C., Public Citizen sent out a media advisory about a planned protest in front of the White House at 5:00 p.m. local time.

“Protest Thursday at the White House Over Trump’s Assault on Mueller Investigation.”

“Americans across the country will hit the streets in Nobody Is Above the Law protests nationwide at 5 p.m. local time. Trump’s decision to force Sessions’ resignation aims to obstruct Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election,” the email reads.

Protests will occur in cities and towns to demand that Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker – Sessions’ former chief of staff – recuse himself from overseeing the Mueller investigation based on his past public comments criticizing the legitimacy of the probe. Whitaker is inappropriate to oversee the Russia investigation and must not do so because he would supplant Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and hinder the Mueller investigation.

“Trump just put someone who has openly trashed Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation in charge of it,” Robert Weissman, president of Public Citizen, wrote in an “emergency email” Wednesday evening, according to Uncommon Dreams. “Trump thought that by waiting until after the polls closed on Election Day, our voices would be silent. He was wrong.”

Interestingly enough, most Americans have lost faith in the Mueller investigation. A CNN exit poll on Tuesday showed that a majority of voters in the House elections viewed the Russia investigation as “politically motivated.”

Specifically, 54 percent of voters said the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with President Trump’s campaign was “politically motivated” compared with just 41 percent who said it was “mostly justified.”

Meanwhile, 46 percent said they disapproved of Mueller’s handling of the investigation, compared with 42 percent who approved.

Other left-wing groups participating in the protests include March for Truth and Indivisible.
