Sen. McCaskill Had Dinner at Russian Ambassador's Home in 2015, Contradicting Her Claim

Back in March, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) jumped on the Democrat/media’s anti-Trump bandwagon with a tweet designed to suggest collusion between Team Trump and Russia:

We already knew this was not true because online sleuths quickly discovered tweets from 2013 and 2015 in which she had talked about her interactions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak:

… once in 2013 about a meeting pertaining to U.S. adoptions and again in 2015 about a phone call with the ambassador about the Iran nuclear deal.

Asked about the discrepancy at the time, McCaskill claimed that her meeting with the Russian ambassador was part of a larger meeting with a group of senators and that her phone call was a brief one about the nuclear deal.

But those weren’t her only interactions with the Russian ambassador.

As CNN reported on Monday, McCaskill also attended a “black-tie reception” at the Russian ambassador’s home in Washington, D.C., in 2015:

In an interview, McCaskill acknowledged attending the dinner, but she said she only did so because of her long-standing relationship with Symington, whom she said “kind of got me started in politics.” She claimed the 140-character limit on Twitter did not let her clarify that she never met “one-on-one” with the Russian ambassador, and added she “did not” speak with Kislyak at the reception.

McCaskill, who is one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection next year, conceded she should have exercised more caution in her initial tweet.

“I should’ve been careful about the 140 characters and given it context,” McCaskill said. “But it’s not the first or the last time my tweets will get me in trouble.”

Some people actually write multiple tweets if they have a lot to say, but she was probably in a hurry, so her tweet — as luck would have it — just ended up making herself look good and Team Trump look bad.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee was quick to pounce on McCaskill, who is one of the more vulnerable Democrats up for reelection next year. The NRSC released the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Claire McCaskill is in some hot water once again for saying one thing, and doing something very different. AKA lying.

You may remember back in March, McCaskill emphatically denied ever meeting Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. However, Claire immediately had to backtrack on her statement, when it was discovered she had previously tweeted about past interactions with the ambassador.

Well, CNN is now reporting that not only did McCaskill meet with the Russian Ambassador then, but she went on to attend a private black-tie reception at the Russian Ambassador’s home. These discrepancies with the truth have to make you wonder what else Claire is hiding?

“Claire’s relationship with the Russian Ambassador highlights her problem with telling the truth,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “If Claire McCaskill can’t be trusted to tell the truth about who she’s meeting with, how can she be trusted to represent Missourians best interests?”

The NRSC also had some fun with her on Twitter:

It seems like the Democrat/media phony Russia collusion narrative is coming back to bite them more and more every day, doesn’t it?
