Eric Garcetti, mayor of Los Angeles and possible future presidential candidate, posted a clip of what could happen if you stick a small firework inside a watermelon.

The public service announcement was anything but a deterrent for Americans who have a fascination with exploding fruit.

“Fireworks not approved by the state, including cherry bombs, bottle rockets, firecrackers and aerial shells, are illegal to possess, store, use or transport in California. Doing so is punishable by a $1,000 fine and jail time. Selling illegal fireworks and possessing more than 100 pounds of them is a felony,” notes the Los Angeles Times, in addition to reminding residents that fireworks are illegal in the city of Los Angeles.
