Charles Barkley: Roy More 'Should Have Been Disqualified' When He Brought in 'White Separatist' Steve Bannon

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is one of those calling on Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy More to drop out of the race. Although most are doing so because Moore is accused of harassing teenage girls when he was in his thirties, Barkley has a completely different reason for speaking out against the staunch conservative candidate. That reason’s name? Steve Bannon.

Barkley told NBC News, “Roy Moore is running with Steve Bannon as his righthand man who is a white separatist. I’m not even going to get into the women stuff. But the guy, how can you be a white separatist and represent all the constituents in your state?”

“I mean, everybody is going crazy [over] this sexual allegations [sic] but Roy Moore to me, when he brought in Steve Bannon, should have been disqualified,” he added.

Barkley said his views have “nothing to do with being a Democrat or a Republican or a liberal or a conservative.”

“The guy has a guy running with him who is a white separatist. That is immoral and wrong,” he said.

Bannon once called Breitbart “the platform for the alt-right,” which obviously is not the most friendly and open-minded right-wing movement in history. Having said that, Bannon has never spoken out in favor of (racial) segregation or racism in general. Quite the opposite is true. When Bannon speaks on issues of race, it’s clear that he’s not racist in the least. Accusing someone of racism who has never said a bad thing about blacks for being black, about Jews for being Jewish, or about Asians for being Asian is ludicrous.

Still, that’s precisely what Barkley does. By doing so, the former NBA star proves to be little more than a partisan, race-baiting hack. As Donald Trump would undoubtedly say: sad.
