Marco Rubio Betrays Conservatism Yet Again, Re-Endorses Donald Trump

The man who should have been the conservative star of the future has again made a major mistake. First there was the Gang of 8; now there is his continued support for Donald Trump.

Here’s a statement Rubio released about the p***y-grabbing billionaire businessman:

“I ran against Donald Trump. And while I respect that voters chose him as the GOP nominee, I have never hesitated to oppose his policies I disagree with,” Rubio said in a statement. “And I have consistently rejected his offensive rhetoric and behavior. I disagree with him on many things, but I disagree with his opponent on virtually everything. I wish we had better choices for President. But I do not want Hillary Clinton to be our next President. And therefore my position has not changed.”

Either Rubio himself is morally and politically handicapped challenged or his advisers are. His continued support for Trump is as suicidal as his involvement in the Gang of 8 was, perhaps even more so. He could get rid of the Gang of 8’s bad rep by taking a hawkish approach in the years to come, after which he could stage a major comeback in 2020. But being tainted with Trump and the Gang of 8? That’s too much for any conservative to overcome.

What’s more, Rubio’s argument doesn’t even make sense. He says he wished there were “better choices.” Well, guess what, Marco, there are! Evan McMullin is on the ballot in many states. In other states you can write him in. And that’s not all: Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party) will be on the ballot in every state, and Darrell Castle (Constitution Party) in most. If Rubio truly believes Trump is such a disaster there are several other options on the table, options that don’t force Rubio to betray the principles he pretends to hold dear.

Of course, doing so would require a little something called “courage.” Sadly, that’s not a virtue Rubio possesses. As a result, he’ll forever be tainted by his support for a man who opposes everything he stands for. And that will mean he has little to no chance of winning the nomination in 2020 or 2024.
