When I first got into politics, I learned one thing very quickly: Democrats are the masters of projection. Whatever crime they pin on Republicans, you can bet they've already committed it themselves, usually with more gusto and zero remorse. It never ceases to amaze me how true that holds, decades later.
And now the man who presided over one of the most weaponized administrations in modern history wants a turn lecturing the country about weaponization.
Former President Barack Obama took to X to blast President Donald Trump over the criminal investigation into the immigration status of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
"It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can't selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say," Obama said. "But that's exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota."
From there, he walked through Omar's biography, complained that federal agents had searched her home and seized her phone, and accused the Justice Department of chasing Trump's political enemies. Never mind that the judge who approved the raid on Omar’s home is a registered Democrat and donated to Hillary Clinton. Obama wouldn’t tell you that.
"The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar's political views," he continued. "Because if this becomes the new normal, there's no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won't do the same."
Oh, that’s rich. This is hardly the first time Obama has played the “If I did that” card when he actually did do what he’s accusing Trump of doing.
Now, ask yourself the following question: Is Obama being stupid here, or does he think you're too stupid?
Spoiler alert: he thinks you're stupid. The entire Democrat Party does.

Consider the record. Barack Obama’s administration normalized weaponizing government. It was his FBI that launched an investigation into Trump's 2016 campaign over phony ties to Russia, fueled by the discredited Steele dossier. The bureau spied on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page using FISA warrants riddled with errors and omissions, and an FBI lawyer later pleaded guilty to doctoring an email used to keep that surveillance going. Obama's IRS singled out Tea Party and conservative groups for extra scrutiny of their tax-exempt applications, so aggressively that the agency eventually had to apologize.
Obama's Justice Department also went after the press. It secretly seized phone records belonging to Associated Press reporters. It obtained the communications records of Fox News reporter James Rosen. It spent years trying to force New York Times reporter James Risen to give up a confidential source. This is the man now clutching his pearls over intimidation.
And the Biden administration was just as bad, if not worse. Its Justice Department prosecuted pro-life activists under the FACE Act. It directed federal law enforcement to look into protests at school board meetings, treating parents who objected to COVID policies and gender ideology in their kids' classrooms like domestic terrorists. It leaned on social media platforms to censor content critical of its policies. Its FBI collected phone records belonging to Republican lawmakers. Its Justice Department prosecuted Trump over classified documents, and it faced allegations of coordinating with state-level efforts to prosecute him and keep him from ever winning the White House again. The Biden Justice Department even let American citizens rot in jail cells for years without trial over the Capitol riot.
Where was Obama's outrage then?
Where was the solemn warning about a "new normal" when his own party built that normal brick by brick?
Democrats count on short memories. They expect you to forget that inflation ran rampant under Biden, and they expect you to forget how they turned the government against their enemies the last time they held power. Worse, they aren't even hiding what comes next. Democrats openly talk about using the threat of legal consequences to investigate Trump to find a crime. Heck, they’re even trying to scare young conservatives away from jobs in the Trump administration with the threat of inevitable prosecution.
They are telling us to our faces that they intend to weaponize the government against Trump and his allies the moment they get it back, and then try to play the victim when one of their own gets caught up in a legitimate criminal investigation that started under Joe Biden.
For the Democrat Party, weaponization against its enemies is justice, but when justice comes for its allies, it’s weaponization.
