Let's Have a Chat About What's Inappropriate For the White House Lawn

The White House is about to host something no one has ever seen before, and it's driving the left absolutely insane. President Trump is turning the South Lawn into a 5,000-seat arena for "UFC Freedom 250" on June 14, as part of a sweeping celebration of America's 250th anniversary. Democrats are screaming about misuse of public space, government resources, and taxpayer money, as if they've ever once cared about any of those things.

The question isn't whether this is appropriate. The question is: compared to what?

Let's get the basics out of the way.

"UFC Freedom 250" is scheduled for Flag Day, June 14, with preliminary fights kicking off at 4 p.m. ET and the main card at 8 p.m. A temporary arena is already going up on the South Lawn, and people on the left are posting photos of it on social media, pretending to be outraged. Trump says it seats 5,000, with large screens at the nearby Ellipse to broadcast the action to an even bigger crowd. The UFC plans to distribute as many as 85,000 free tickets.

The event is one piece of a much larger vision. The administration has also planned an IndyCar race route passing the White House and a Great American State Fair on the National Mall. This is exactly the kind of big, unapologetic, American showmanship that drives the left insane.

As for who is paying, well, UFC's parent company, TKO, is covering the roughly $60 million cost of the temporary arena. UFC CEO Dana White made that explicitly clear. The government isn't writing the check for the cage. But honestly, even raising the funding question takes nerve from a party that spent years turning every federal holiday and institution into a leftist activism showcase.

"Dumocrats are opposed to anything that celebrates the greatness of our Country because they are America Last losers," White House spokesperson Davis Ingle said in a statement to Newsweek. "This will be one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history, and President Trump hosting it at the White House is a testament to his vision to celebrate America's monumental 250th anniversary."

But here's where the Democrats' moral outrage collapses entirely. Three years ago, transgender activists went topless on the White House lawn during a Biden-hosted Pride event with children present.

A celebration the Biden administration hosted, endorsed, and apparently had no problem with. Video from the event shows half-naked activists posing and celebrating on the historic grounds in full view of attendees, including minors. Democrats didn't clutch pearls over that. They celebrated it. I guess to the radical left, adults exposing themselves to kids on the South Lawn is okay, but a UFC match is not.

Look, I'm not a UFC fan, and to be honest, the UFC match on the White House lawn doesn’t excite me one bit. But no one is going to convince me that a sporting event celebrating America's 250th birthday is somehow less appropriate than transgender activists exposing themselves to children at a taxpayer-funded White House event with the full blessing of the sitting president and his entire party.

Democrats condoned it. They cheered it. They defended it. And now they want to lecture the rest of us about the dignity of the White House grounds? The people who turned the South Lawn into a venue for public indecency in front of children have absolutely no standing to complain about a UFC fight. None.
