Remember how the media spent years pretending that Joe Biden was physically fit and mentally sharp? They were intent on convincing us not to believe our lying eyes… until Biden’s performance in his June 2024 debate with Donald Trump made the charade impossible to deny. Well, as anyone could have expected, they're working overtime to make Trump look just as frail.
It's not subtle, and frankly, it’s not new. This is the same playbook they always run when they need to manufacture a narrative. They did it during Trump’s first term, too. Who can forget the way left-wing media outlets would scrape the bottom of the barrel for some mental health professional claiming Trump was mentally ill? Well, they’re working overtime now with this new narrative of Trump being physically and mentally impaired.
This was predictable, of course. The media's concern over presidential health has never been about truth or accountability. It's always been about control. They shielded Biden from scrutiny when it mattered, then waited until it was safe (after Biden dropped out) to admit what everyone already knew. Now that Biden isn’t the issue, they’re trying to sow doubt about Trump's health, all while using the Biden fiasco as justification for their newfound desire to raise questions about Trump’s health.

Here’s what’s going on now. The New York Times published a piece titled "Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office," claiming that Trump's second-term schedule is lighter and has shifted to later hours compared to his first term. According to the Times, nearly a year into his second term, Trump has fewer public events and is traveling domestically less than he did at the same point in 2017, though he has increased foreign travel. Most of Trump's public appearances now occur between noon and 5 p.m.
This is the same publication that never cared when Joe Biden had even shorter public schedules or hid himself away in Delaware for days at a time.
Trump, of course, didn’t take the accusations lying down.
“The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again,” he said in a post on Truth Social. “I won the 2024 Presidential Election in a Landslide, winning all Seven Swing States, the Popular Vote, and the Electoral College by a lot. I won our Nation’s Districts by 2750 to 550, a complete wipeout. I settled 8 Wars, have 48 New Stock Market Highs, our Economy is Great, and our Country is RESPECTED AGAIN all over the World, respected like never before. The last Administration had the Highest Inflation in history - I have already brought that down to normal, and prices, including groceries, are coming down.”
Trump continued, “To do this requires a lot of Work and Energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life. Yet despite all of this the Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite. They know this is wrong, as is almost every thing that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added that the administration has been "open and transparent about the president's health, which remains exceptional," while the previous administration "covered up Joe Biden's cognitive decline and hid him from the press.”
The media is desperate to take the past concerns about Biden's physical and mental health and transfer them to Trump. They're hoping the public can’t distinguish between a president who couldn't string together coherent sentences and one who actually gets things done and doesn’t need an autopen to sign documents but starts his day just a little bit later.
And that’s the infuriating part. When the crux of their argument is that he prefers to start his day a little later, it tells you how desperate they are to push this bogus narrative and make it stick.
