Democrats haven’t just gone soft on crime—they’ve turned the justice system into a political hit squad. The law isn’t blind anymore; it’s eyes are wide open and watching for party affiliation, skin color, and whether a case can be twisted to fit the left’s agenda. When the “right” kind of criminal targets the “right” kind of victim, the left suddenly discovers compassion and calls it “restorative justice.” But when the tables turn—when the victim is a conservative, a Trump supporter, or anyone the left deems expendable—the mercy vanishes, and the full weight of the system comes crashing down.
The sentencing of two teenagers who brutally attacked a DOGE employee perfectly illustrates this twisted reality. There’s something deeply rotten in America’s justice system, and the latest stink wafting out of Washington, D.C., is impossible to ignore. When a sitting judge, hand-picked by President Biden, lets two teens who beat a man half to death walk away with probation, it forces the question: does justice in this country even mean anything anymore?
Judge Kendra Briggs, a black woman and a Biden appointee, handed down probation to a pair of 15-year-olds who participated in a violent assault on Edward Coristine near the White House in early August. Coristine, who worked for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and went by the nickname "Big Balls," was left bloodied on Swann Street with a broken nose and concussion after being attacked by a group attempting a carjacking. The two teens pleaded guilty to simple assault and walked away without spending a single day behind bars.
Instead of jail time, Judge Briggs ordered probation with conditions that sound more like a grounding than actual consequences. The teens can't communicate with each other, can't get in vehicles without permission, must stay out of Washington except for legal appointments or family events, and have to complete 90 hours of community service. They'll be on electronic monitoring with a curfew, and the girl will undergo weekly drug testing and treatment. It's a slap on the wrist for what amounts to a vicious attack on a federal employee.
President Trump didn't mince words about the decision. “They beat the hell out of this guy. There was many people against this one guy, who was really trying to protect his girlfriend,” he said. He called the sentencing "terrible" and said the judge should be "ashamed."

“And the case—I heard—was like flawless,” Trump added. “It's a flawless case. They have them on tape. They have everything, and then a judge gives them a little probation.”

Elon Musk, the former head of DOGE, went even further.
“This was a racist verdict by a racist judge,” he said in a post on X. “The simple test to apply is if the races has been reversed, the White kids would be in prison.”
Musk added, “Equal justice for all!”
Judge Briggs justified her leniency by emphasizing rehabilitation over punishment, citing the teens' troubled backgrounds. The girl apparently has a history of trauma and prior school issues. Both teens live in Maryland with their respective parents, who attended the hearing virtually. The girl even has another unresolved case pending in Maryland. But here's the thing: troubled backgrounds don't give anyone a free pass to terrorize innocent people on the streets.
The judge acknowledged during the hearing that these teens were part of a group terrorizing U Street and said she would act if probation conditions were violated. That's reassuring. I guess we’re supposed to feel better because maybe, possibly, if they violate probation, there might be consequences then? Meanwhile, Edward Coristine had to get medical treatment for his injuries while his attackers went home.
But here’s what really gets me. For years, Democrats went all-in on their Trump witch hunts, bending laws into pretzels to manufacture crimes that didn’t exist. Partisan prosecutors in Manhattan, Georgia, and D.C. worked around the clock, digging for anything they could pin on him. They turned minor infractions past the statute of limitations into felonies, resurrected dusty old statutes, and coordinated their efforts like some sort of political hit squad—all to take down a rival they couldn’t beat at the ballot box because they wanted to prevent him from returning to the White House.
When real crimes happen—especially when the victims are conservatives, Trump supporters, or simply white—the left’s version of “justice” suddenly changes shape. The same crowd that cheered every bogus indictment of Trump suddenly rediscovers the concepts of mercy, rehabilitation, and “root causes.” We’re told that harsh punishment won’t fix society and that everyone deserves a second chance. The double standard isn’t just obvious—it’s an insult to anyone paying attention.
This is what happens when Democrats trade criminal justice for social justice. They’ve transformed the legal system from a neutral arbiter into a political weapon—one that punishes the “wrong” kind of citizen and excuses the “right” kind of criminal. Judge Briggs’s sentencing is just the latest reminder that for the radical left, justice isn’t about what you did—it’s about whether your story fits their agenda.
