What Is Joe Biden Trying to Prove?

Joe Biden would’ve done himself a favor by quietly fading into retirement. Most Americans were relieved to see him go, and there’s little, if anything, he can do to redeem his failed presidency. But like a bad penny, he keeps turning up, desperate to rewrite history. He still insists that his disastrous debate with President Donald Trump — the one that torpedoed his reelection chances — was just an off night and that his presidency was some kind of golden era. It’s delusional, and the public isn’t buying it.

But who exactly is he trying to fool?

During an appearance on "The View" on Thursday, both Joe and Jill Biden pushed their ridiculous narrative that his shocking debate showing was merely a "one-off" event because he was "sick." Seriously? This is the best explanation they can come up with?

Veteran political analyst Mark Halperin isn't buying their desperate spin.

“There were moments that were a little rough, but for the most part, he was there. But not because of cognitive decline, but just because of the desire to spin, he said a bunch of stuff that just wasn’t true,” Halperin explained on "The Brian Kilmeade Show" on Friday. “And they can continue to say that all that happened was that he had a cold and one bad debate. They can continue to act as if that’s the truth. And you don’t need an investigative reporting ability to know that that’s not the truth.”

"We saw him in public many times, exhibiting cognitive decline over many years," Halperin continued. "So I find it frustrating as a journalist and concerning as a human being that they're still out there trying to sell America on the story that this was a one-off and that he was fine the rest of his presidency."

I couldn’t agree more.

The timing of Biden’s sudden reappearance is no accident. Later this month, Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson are releasing a book on Biden’s cognitive decline, which Politico is already calling “the book Biden allies fear the most.” It’s expected to paint a damning portrait of not just Biden’s deterioration, but the coordinated effort by his inner circle and the media to keep the truth from the public. While Tapper and Thompson will no doubt try to distance themselves from the cover-up they helped perpetuate, the book is shaping up to be a devastating exposé of the Biden presidency nonetheless.

And I guess Biden wants to get on top of it, though so far his efforts haven’t been helpful. As we previously reported, his appearance on “The View” this past week was a train wreck.

There’s nothing Biden can say to rewrite history. His cognitive decline was on full display during his 2020 campaign and throughout his failed presidency. It was his campaign, the Democratic Party, and the mainstream media that simply tried to convince us every day that what we saw with our own eyes wasn’t happening.

So what exactly is Biden trying to prove with this continued charade? That he wasn't as cognitively impaired as everyone could plainly see? That his debate performance was just a cold? The evidence of his mental decline is overwhelming and undeniable, and his efforts to counter that narrative aren’t helping. So why try?

By rushing to the television cameras, he’s only reminding people how unfit he was for the presidency. And you can bet that the Democratic Party would rather see him fade into obscurity than go out reminding the public why they voted for Trump again.
