President Joe Biden seems determined to solidify his reputation for poor judgment, this time by bestowing the Presidential Medal of Freedom on a lineup of individuals that includes controversial figures and blatant partisans. Several of his selections are being panned on social media, and leave me wondering if Joe Biden really has decided to go out in a blaze of shame and ensure that his presidential legacy remains firmly at the bottom of a flaming dumpster.
I wish I could say this was an exaggeration, but it’s not. While a few of the honorees arguably deserve the nation’s highest civilian honor, others seem to have been chosen for all the wrong reasons.
I’m primarily referring to Hillary Clinton and George Soros, though a few of the celebrities being honored can hardly be said to have made truly truly “exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors,” as the White House claims they have.
Biden, however, has insisted these individuals are “good people” who have significantly improved their country and the world. But let’s be honest—these awards are less about merit and more about Biden’s vendetta against his predecessor, Donald Trump, and his eagerness to reward loyalty to the Democratic Party.

Take Hillary Clinton, for example. She has been surrounded by scandal for the entirety of her public life, and her final role in the federal government was the gross mismanagement of the Benghazi attack and the subsequent efforts to mislead the public. Then there’s her private email server scandal and FBI investigation. The White House announcement noted that she “became the first woman nominated for president by a major United States political party,” but nothing about how that process was rigged to ensure that she, and not Bernie Sanders won the nomination.
And let’s not forget that she is the epitome of an election denier, which, Democrats have long claimed makes one a threat to democracy.
Perhaps even more egregious is the inclusion of George Soros, the billionaire who has spent decades pouring his fortune into far-left causes. His funding of soft-on-crime prosecutors has devastated law and order in Democrat-run cities. Soros-backed district attorneys including Alvin Bragg and George Gascón have overseen skyrocketing crime rates and fostered a culture of lawlessness. Honoring someone whose policies have directly harmed countless Americans is not just tone-deaf—it’s an outright insult to crime victims.

This troubling pattern of rewarding divisive figures isn’t new for Biden. Just weeks ago, he commuted the death sentences of child rapists and murderers, a move widely criticized as a shocking display of misplaced compassion. Around the same time, he handed out Presidential Citizens Medals to Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson for their work on the blatantly partisan January 6 Committee. Biden’s actions consistently reflect his bias toward those who oppose Trump, and it’s hard to come up with any recipients who have made positive contributions to society.
As Biden’s presidency limps toward its conclusion, Americans should brace themselves for what could come next. If his recent actions are any indication, the final days of his administration could bring even more controversial decisions. For now, one thing is undeniable: Joe Biden’s presidential legacy is on a suicide mission.
