Biden Is Hurting Israel to Help His Presidential Campaign... and It May Be Working

Did anyone actually fall for Biden's public support of Israel after the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023? It was obvious that Biden's support for Israel was largely a ruse but, believe it or not, plenty of people fell for it — particularly the antisemitic wing of the Democratic Party. Things have changed over the past few months, and Biden isn't even pretending to care about Israel anymore. And it may be helping his campaign.

I have no doubt that Joe Biden viewed the Israel-Hamas conflict as an opportunity to boost his image as commander-in-chief. Let's face it, between his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and the money pit that the Ukraine-Russia war has become, he doesn't exactly have much to brag about on the foreign policy front.

Initially, publicly aligning with Israel might have seemed like the most politically advantageous position to take. However, Biden's stance didn't have the intended effect; instead, it caused a decline in approval ratings within his own party. This was particularly true in Michigan, where support promptly shifted towards Trump in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on Israel. Before the war started, Joe Biden had a lead in the RealClearPolitics average in Michigan.

Trump quickly took the lead after that, and, in the months that followed, managed to get an average lead of more than five points earlier this year. Today, Trump still leads in Michigan, but by less than half a point. This wasn't just an organic change that happened in the polls; it was by design.

Remember, Michigan holds significant electoral importance for Biden. As of right now, Trump has solid leads in polling in Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia. When you look at the map, assuming all other states vote the same as they did in 2020, Biden must win all of the Great Lakes battleground states — Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania — to win the election.

In contrast, Trump only needs to win one of them. Biden's handlers have obviously seen how crucial it is for their candidate to appease the antisemitic wing of his base, and he has responded with his increasingly pro-Hamas policies.

In fact, Biden has become so horrible for Israel that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video on Tuesday blasting the Biden administration. "When Secretary Blinken was recently here in Israel, we had a candid conversation," Netanyahu began. "I said I deeply appreciated the support the U.S. has given Israel from the beginning of the war, but I also said something else. I said it is inconceivable that in the past few months, the administration has been withholding weapons and ammunition from Israel. Israel, America's closest ally, fighting for its life, fighting against Iran and our other common enemies."

Netanyahu continued, "Secretary Blinken assured that the administration is working day and night to remove these bottlenecks. I certainly hope that's the case. It should be the case. During World War II, Churchill told the United States, "Give us the tools, we'll do the job." I say, give us the tools and we'll finish the job a lot faster."

Israel has been desperately trying to eliminate Hamas, and without much help from the United States lately. There's no justification for why Biden isn't helping Israel, our ally, in favor of Hamas, a terrorist organization. His only reason for doing so is that he needs to win Michigan, which has a sizable Muslim population that demonstrated in the recent Democratic primary that they have the political power to prevent him from winning the state.
