Stanford law professor Pamela Karlan, one of the Democrats witnesses at Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearing, is getting slammed her unnecessary and “classless” reference to President Trump’s youngest son, 13-year-old Barron. “The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” Karlan said. To make things worse, her rehearsed line was met with applause and laughter.

“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics,” tweeted first lady Melania Trump. “Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”

Donald Trump Jr. weighed in as well. “How vile of a person do you have to be to attack a 13 year old child on national TV for laughs?” he tweeted.

The Trump campaign noted, “So Hunter Biden is off limits but 13 year old Barron Trump is not? This gets more unreal by the minute.”

The White House issued a more stern statement from press Secretary Stephanie Grishman. “Classless move by a Democratic ‘witness’. Prof Karlan uses a teenage boy who has nothing to do with this joke of a hearing (and deserves privacy) as a punchline,” she tweeted. “And what’s worse, it’s met by laughter in the hearing room. What is being done to this country is no laughing matter.”

Perhaps one of the most epic responses came at the hearing itself from Rep. Matt Gaetz. “When you invoke the president son’s name here, when you try to make a little joke out of referencing Barron Trump, that does not lend credibility to your argument. It makes you look mean. It makes you look like you’re attacking someone’s family, the minor child of the president of the United States.”
