The Morning Briefing: Ilhan Omar Says Boycotting Israel Is Like Boycotting Nazi Germany

Good Friday Morning.

Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:

  • The president and first lady participate in a photo opportunity commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing
  • The president participates in a roundtable with supporters in Bedminster, New Jersey
  • President Trump delivers remarks at a Joint Fundraising Committee dinner in Bedminster, New Jersey

Ilhan Omar still dominating the headlines

Progressive darling Ilhan Omar continues to feed the media and the Democrats with performance material. First up, President Trump disavowed remarks not made by him, but made by a crowd. Did you notice in all the strutting on social media and cable news that the #resistance advocates were treating the “send her home” chant about Rep. Ilhan Omar as if Trump himself had uttered the words?

“I was not happy with it. I disagree with it. But again, I didn’t say that. They did. But I disagree with it,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Second up, David Steinberg is doing the heavy lifting the Pulitzer-winning corporate, “news” industry is not. Over at Powerline, Steinberg has the receipts on Omar’s alleged marriage to her brother. Did you know Omar isn’t really her last name? Interesting stuff, go check it out. It’s not just that Omar married her brother, which is gross, but she did it (allegedly) to commit fraud. I wonder what the consequences will be? Who helped her do this, because I doubt she thought up the scheme herself.

Now let’s turn to “Omar’s” anti-Semitism. (So much to love about her!) The Jew-hater “proposed a resolution this week supporting the right to boycott Israel, likening the boycott of the Jewish state to boycotts of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.”

“We are introducing a resolution … to really speak about the American values that support and believe in our ability to exercise our First Amendment rights in regard to boycotting,” Omar told Al-Monitor.

“And it is an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support a nonviolent movement, which is the BDS movement,” she added. BDS stands for “boycott, divest and sanction” Israel and BDS is really not “nonviolent.”

Please, do, please explain why you support the “nonviolent” BDS movement. Here’s the founder of the BDS movement Omar Barghouti in his own words describing the BDS mission. “Most definitely we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine,” adding that “Palestinians and Arabs in general have never, and will never recognize Israel as a Jewish state.” Barghouti is not welcome in the U.S., for the record.

I don’t think these are “American values.”

U.S. shoots down Iranian drone, Iran denies

President Trump announced on Thursday that the U.S. had destroyed an Iranian drone flying over the Straight of Hormuz. “The U.S. reserves the right to defend personnel, facilities, interests,” Trump said.

Chief Pentagon Spokesperson Jonathan Hoffman confirmed to Fox News in a statement: “At approximately 10 a.m. local time, the amphibious ship USS Boxer was in international waters conducting a planned inbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz. A fixed wing unmanned aerial system (UAS) approached Boxer and closed within a threatening range. The ship took defensive action against the UAS to ensure the safety of the ship and its crew.”

Iran denies we shot down the drone. I see no reason not to trust Iran, right? Just kidding, I was channeling Obama.

Iran on Friday denied President Donald Trump’s statement that a U.S. warship destroyed an Iranian drone near the Persian Gulf after it threatened the ship — an incident that marked a new escalation of tensions between the countries less than a month after Iran downed an American drone in the same waterway and Trump came close to retaliating with a military strike.

“We have not lost any drone in the Strait of Hormuz nor anywhere else,” tweeted Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Of course you didn’t.
