Good Thursday morning.
Here is what’s on the president’s agenda today:

Protestor climbs the Statue of Liberty
A protestor scaled the base of the Statue of Liberty yesterday, disrupting all the visitors who wanted to visit Lady Liberty on the 4th of July. How nice.
[Therese Patricia] Okoumou is expected to appear in Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday and may face misdemeanor charges including trespassing, disorderly conduct and violating national park regulations, police said.
Welcome to the new normal, where every aspect of your life will be infected with politics.
Okoumou was seen holding a t-shirt displaying the words “Rise and Resist” and “Trump Care Makes Us Sick.”
She wasn’t the only protester arrested at the Statue of Liberty on Wednesday. Earlier that afternoon, seven people were apprehended for holding a banner that read “ABOLISH ICE” off the base below the statue, which is technically called Fort Hood.
Rise and Resist is the name of a protest group that arranged the banner display, and they tweeted that the climber “has no connection to our #abolishice action earlier today.”
According to CNN, “The woman was part of a group of protesters and had declared that she wouldn’t come down until ‘all the children are released,’ a source with the New York Police Department” said.
I bet all the visitors who had their trip to the statue ruined were persuaded by this political gesture, just like all the people during the presidential election who had their highways blocked by mobs of activists making political statements. Nothing changes minds faster than being forced to sit in a needless traffic jam or having your holiday ruined for the sake of consciousness-raising. Soldier on, resistors!
