Non-Binary Teen's Death Blamed on Libs of TikTok

When I was in junior high and high school, it was tough sledding for a while. I was short, skinny, awkward, and non-athletic. My clothes were not current, and I sported plenty of bad haircuts. I was also a theater kid for a time. Technically, I joined the golf team in my junior year, but that was because very few people wanted to be on the team. So naturally, I was bullied.

At the time, being bullied was part of the school experience for some of us, and we just rolled with it and went on with our lives. I was dumped into trash cans, slammed into lockers, punched, kicked, spat on, and, of course, routinely ridiculed. I have always been an art lover, and I made the mistake of posting a photo of Michelangelo's "David" in my locker. As a refresher, Michaelangelo's statue depicts David au naturel, and the photo earned me the designation of "f***ot." Things began to turn around toward the end of my junior year, but for a while, school could be a bit of a rodeo from time to time.

Being a social outcast is painful. For the record, getting beaten up is also painful. To this day, I have a soft spot for the outcasts, no matter who they may be. So my heart broke when I read the story of Nex Benedict.

From her picture, Nex appears to be a biological girl. She was 16 years old and identified as non-binary when she was jumped in a bathroom at Owasso High School in Oklahoma, and her head was beaten against the floor. It was originally posited that Nex died as a result of those injuries. The New York Post has a screenshot of her text messages leading up to her death. She describes being jumped in a 3-1 fight, getting an injection at a hospital for her pain, and feeling dizzy and nauseous. She said that she and her friends had been bullied and that she poured water on those bullies, resulting in the fight.

The school has issued a statement indicating that the flight lasted for two minutes and that a teacher and another student broke it up. The school also disputed the claim that Nex was unable to walk to the principal's office after the incident.

Police are investigating the incident, and the point has been raised that Nex was being bullied because she was non-binary. This may have indeed been the case.

But there may be other factors, such as the innate cruelty that can come with high school, years of treating children with drugs to modify their behavior, disjointed families, failing schools, and a social media culture that influences people to act on impulse and limits their worth to how many reactions they can get from a few seconds of screen time. And there is the fact that people have just become more angry, self-centered, and callous. So it may have been a perfect storm of factors that led to the attack.

Breitbart reported on Wednesday:

UPDATE: Police have released a statement that “preliminary information from the medical examiner’s office is that a complete autopsy was performed and indicated that the decedent did not die as a result of trauma.”

So the attack, while severe, was not the cause of death. As the news broke about Nex's death, the Leftist outlets laid the blame at the feet of trans hate and Libs of TikTok. As you may know, Libs of TikTok made a name for itself by retweeting posts from members of the Left, unedited and without comment. The posts speak for themselves.

Breitbart noted that two years ago, Libs of TikTok reposted a video by an eighth-grade teacher in Owasso who said, “If your parents don’t accept you for who you are, f*ck them. I’m your parents now.” In the minds of the Leftist media, that was enough to convict Chaya Raichik, who runs Libs of TikTok. The outcome was predictable.

Nex's death was tragic, and no one should ever be bullied. I can attest to that. But the inescapable fact is that the Left and the trans lobby, while quick to voice their grievances with the opposition and make no end of accusations, are equally quick to ignore, minimize, and even rationalize the things that those on their side do.

In October of 2021, the Daily Wire broke the story of a boy who dressed as a girl and assaulted two girls in school restrooms in Loudoun County, Va., that the district covered up. There was the incident of a violent mob pursuing and cornering Riley Gaines at San Francisco State University in April 2023. Campus police recently suspended their investigation, calling Gaines' allegations "unfounded."

In March of last year, a transgender person murdered three children and three adults before taking her own life at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tenn. The stories by no means stop with those three. Here is a sample of headlines (with links) from Reduxx:

And if you want an example of the disaster that can occur when a child is sexualized or has an agenda pushed on them, please click here. In addition to telling you about bullying, I can tell you all about that, too.

The trans lobby and other assorted members of the Left will ignore or discount these stories since they do not come from approved sources and do not support the official narrative. Moreover, it is the double standard of morality that is concerning. The attack on Nex should be condemned in no uncertain terms, and justice should be served. All of the incidents listed above should be condemned, and so should the sexualization of children and the permanent alteration of their bodies before their brains have even developed.
