One surprising pastime that’s taken hold in the past year or so is adult coloring. Maybe you’ve seen people at cafes or during breaks at work coloring in intricate designs with colored pencils as a way to unwind. Perhaps you’ve taken up the hobby as well. (When my husband and I were in the process of buying our house, I needed an escape from all of the chaos of escrow and inspections and lawyers, so I jumped on the coloring book bandwagon as well!)
If you have ever wondered if Kate Middleton is anything like the rest of us, you should know that the Duchess of Cambridge herself is also a big fan of adult coloring books! But in England, it’s called “colour therapy.”
According to USA Today, Prince William recently presented adult coloring book illustrator Johanna Basford with “an OBE, for services to art and entrepreneurship.” He informed her that Duchess Kate loves coloring Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book, one of Basford’s books.
Perhaps being in the spotlight all the time, with the responsibilities associated with being the queen’s granddaughter-in-law, can be a bit stressful. It’s nice to know that Kate likes to unwind—just like us common folk.
Congratulations to illustrator @johannabasford who today received her OBE at Buckingham Palace for services to art and entrepreneurship. pic.twitter.com/sGTCPWI9sY
