As we all scramble to get our children to their first day of school this week, we hope we’ve have remembered to do everything necessary to prepare them for a new year: buy new shoes and school supplies, pack a healthy lunch in a labeled lunchbox, and get them to the correct bus stop on time. One little girl in Leeds, England, unfortunately, had a rough start to her school year when she ended up at the wrong bus stop.
A bus driver for the First Bus service spotted the very upset little girl, who appeared to be about 11 or 12 years old, standing at the wrong stop around 7:15 a.m. He got out of his bus and promised her that she wouldn’t be late for her first day of school. The good Samaritan called a taxi for the girl, waited with her until it arrived, and even gave her enough money to cover the fare. The act of kindness was captured by Lynsey Jayes, a passenger on the bus, and was posted to Facebook. It has since gone viral.
According to the Huffington Post:
“This bus driver on the number 16 this morning deserves a huge pat on the back,” she wrote.
His act of kindness caused a 10-minute delay to the service, but Jayes said it was something she didn’t “mind my bus running late for.”

“It was just lovely to see, it certainly made everyone on the bus smile and he certainly brightened up a very wet and miserable morning,” Jayes, 33, later told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Jayes posted the photo in the hopes that the driver would be recognized for the kind gesture. Thanks to him, the first day of school will certainly be one that the little girl will never forget.
