Toddler Trapped Under Fallen Dresser Miraculously Saved by Twin Brother

Some people scoff at babyproofing. I’ve actually been told that I should houseproof my baby rather than babyproof my house. I’ve been told that we coddle kids too much these days. But you know what? Toddlers often just want to have fun. And no matter how many times you try to teach them or warn them of the dangers that exist, they will test the limits just to see what happens. Other times, they will forget those warnings in the fun of the moment. They don’t have the capacity to foresee every scenario or danger lurking the way that adults do. For this reason, babyproofing is essential.

One Utah family recently learned this lesson the hard way. Twin brothers Brock and Bowdy Shoff were playing in their room. They innocently found some fun in playing in the drawers of their large dresser when the heavy piece of furniture tipped over. Bowdy was able to get out of the way, but his brother was quickly trapped beneath. As Brock lay there helpless, Bowdy paced around the dresser trying to figure out a way to help his brother. He was finally able to move it just enough for Brock to wiggle out from under. Had the dresser been attached to the wall, the whole incident could have been avoided. Had Brody not been so quick to help his twin, the story could have had a devastating ending.

Fox News has the story:

Both the boys were fine after the scary incident.

“We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share,” the boys’ father, Ricky Shoff, wrote on Facebook. “We know Bowdy was not alone in moving the dresser off of Brock. And feel blessed that he is ok. Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall.”

The footage from the camera in the boys’ room is especially difficult to watch if you are a parent. You can see the video below.
