A 230-foot long replica of Noah’s Ark had an accident on Friday when it arrived in the harbor of Oslo, Norway. Although it’s not clear what happened exactly, we do know that the ark hit a vessel of Norway’s coast guard. As a result both vessels were seriously damaged.
Dutch carpenter Johan Huibers built the ark after he had a dream about a major flood in his own hometown in the Netherlands.
The ark is now owned by the Ark of Noah Foundation, which planned to bring it to Rio de Janeiro for the Olympic Games. It’s not clear whether that goal can still be achieved now the ark is so severely damaged, but I fear the worst.
The only good news? As far as we know there were no animals on board the ark when it hit the coast guard’s vessel.
If you want to support the project you can do so on the foundation’s official website.
