Brocade To Buy Foundry Networks for Nearly $3 Billion

Two Silicon Valley networking companies will merge in an effort to move beyond their positions as niche players and with an eye toward competing with sector leader Cisco Systems.  The pairing couples Brocade’s server and data storage systems with Foundry’s networking and switching products.  The vision is to create a broader offering of interconnect systems in the expanding communications industry where diversity of products have led to connectivity troubles.
