“Global Warming Expedition to Prove Antarctic Ice is Melting Trapped by Ice,” Daniel Greenfield writes at Front Page magazine:
The metaphor just couldn’t be more fitting: desperate true believers of global warming/accelerating polar ice melt now find themselves trapped by thousands of square kilometers of summertime sea ice that wasn’t supposed to be there.
No picture could better symbolize and communicate the intellectual bankruptcy and disillusionment of a faithful group who refuse to believe they have been led astray. This has to be deeply embarrassing, if not outright humiliating.
Linking to Greenfield’s post, “Christmas keeps coming!”, exudes Rob Long at Ricochet, the source of the headline quoted above.
“Antarctic global warming expeditionists trapped in ice may have to be rescued by helicopter,” Doug Powers adds at Michelle Malkin.com.
Al Gore declared in 2008 that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.” Presumably he’s had similar doomsday utterances about the other pole as well, but could not be reached for confirmation and/or mockery:

Neither could Greenpeace, which began the month by dispatching an actor dressed up as a rather bedraggled looking Santa Claus in order to scare kids into believing that Christmas might be cancelled due to…well, you know.
Update: “Caption contest: what is that penguin thinking?”
And Kate of Small Dead Animals has video of CNN describing the incident in their usual plonking and pedantic tone, with no hint of the irony of what they’re reporting:
