That Was Fast: 'Fareed Zakaria Passes CNN, Time Magazine Reviews, Will Keep Jobs'

As Iowahawk tweeted last week when Zakaria’s trip to the sidelines was first announced, “Being suspended by CNN is like being put on injured reserve by the 1976 Tampa Bay Bucs. The worst part is returning to the game.”

And Zakaria’s time-out was “unexpectedly” brief, as the show-biz oriented Website The Wrap reports today:

Both CNN and Time put the journalist on leave last Friday while they reviewed his previous work for more signs of plagiarism.

CNN said his show, “Fareed Zakaria GPS” will return to the air on Sunday, Aug. 26. The show did not air on Aug. 12.

“CNN has completed its internal review of Fareed Zakaria’s work for CNN, including a look back at his Sunday programs, documentaries, and CNN.com blogs,” the news network said in a statement Thursday. “The process was rigorous.  We found nothing that merited continuing the suspension.”

Time, too, called the plagiarism “an isolated incident” and said he will be reinstated and his next column will be printed Sept. 7.

I wonder if Zakaria is worried that free agency may not play out next year as well as he’s hoped.
