“Time Writer Asks Why Drivers Aren’t ‘Flipping Out’ About Gas Prices, Fails to Examine Role of Media’s Coverage,” Ken Sheppard writes at Newsbusters:

“Gas prices are soaring again in 2012, yet the auto industry is booming, and drivers, while annoyed, are mostly taking rising fuel costs in stride. What’s changed?” Time magazine’s Brad Tuttle asked in an April 10 TIME Moneyland blog post. Tuttle offered numerous explanationsbut failed to consider the media’s coverage as one explanation for why Americans seem to not be seething angry about high gas prices.

Not the least of which are Time’s sister publications, inside the Time-Warner-CNN conglomerate. “Actual CNN Money Headline: ‘Rising Gas Prices Aren’t as Bad as You Think,'” Noel Sheppard wrote at Newsbusters on March 21st:

As NewsBusters has been reporting for weeks, the Obama-loving media – quite contrary to what they did when George W. Bush was in office – are doing their darnedest to downplay the seriousness of the exploding prices people are paying at the pump.

Doing its part Wednesday was CNN Money which actually published a piece with the laughable headline, “Rising Gas Prices Aren’t as Bad as You Think.”

Not surprisingly, as Newsbusters’ sister site notes this month, “$4 Gas? Networks Fueled Outrage in ‘08 With Nearly 3 Times As Many Reports.”

And Obama himself was happy to jump on the bandwagon back then…when gas was $3.50 a gallon. It’s now a dollar more than that in my neck of the woods in Northern California for premium, and MSN reports “Gas tops $7 per gallon on California’s Catalina Island.”

Steven Chu must be orgasmic.

Because hey, good news, right? As David Harsanyi asked this past February, “Aren’t High Gas Prices What Democrats Want?”
