When Journalists Attack!

Don Surber smells a Pulitzer in the making. I say, why think small? Nobel Peace Prize, baby:

Republican Congressman Connie Mack sent out a press release on Sept. 8. His flack received this reply from John Guerra, a reporter for the Key West Citizen in Florida:

“The Republican Party is now a mentally ill group of people who want nothing more than to destroy Obama’s first term no matter how much the country needs his policies. I despise your party’s activities and the hatred you spew on Fox and other sounding boards for the insurance companies. Please don’t you dare get him killed, which is the underlying goal of you right wing nuts.”

Via Big Government, which noted: “We have reached out to Mr. Guerra for his version of events. No comment yet, but we will keep you posted if we hear anything.”

Here are some earlier examples of pacifistic journalists seeking to bridge the national divide:

• Back in October of 2008, a reporter for Newsweek had no problem admitting to the world that he’d like to take out Rudy Giuliani–in a nonlethal way of course; “just something that put him out of commission for a year or so.”
• Olbermann violating Godwin’s Law with the CEO of his bête noire.
• In 2007, Dallas-based TV journalist Rebecca Aguilar hectored a beleaguered elderly business owner after he dared to defend himself during repeated robbery attempts.
• Peter Jennings’ 1994 temper tantrum.
• Joe Klien’s latest meltdown.
• And of course, the endless war of words from the bitter clingers in the legacy media to the early adopters of the  successor media.
