One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other

Pimp my Oscars! The Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s movie critic writes–apparently with a straight face–this non-sequitur:

Oscar ’06 was as fast-paced, funny and flub-free as any running of the event in recent memory and considerably less of an endurance test. It also had an enjoyable air of retro elegance, and even (if you don’t count the hours of goofy red-carpet coverage) a certain dignity.

It was a night of liberal pride, and — from its teary tribute to films of social concern to the best song win of “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” — even more of a slap in the face to Bush’s America than expected.
