Crunchy Consternations

I’ve linked several times to Rod Dreher’s “Godless Party” article, which did a thorough job of documenting one of the trends in American politics over the last 25 years, and one that was completely ignored by big media. And I’ve liked a number of his pieces at National Review.

But (and yes, you knew that most dangerous of all conjunctions was coming, huh?), despite an initial early appeal, when Rod was first exploring the concept three years ago, I can’t say I’m all that enamored of the concepts behind his Crunchy Conservatives book, for all of the reasons that Jonah Goldberg enumerates in his thorough–and friendly–debunking.

Will Collier, Samizdata and Radley Balko have some further thoughts.
