“Reporters covering Sarah Palin book-signing are locked in a room at Walmart,” Jim Romensko reports, shocked, shocked! that a former vice presidential candidate would dare to lock reporters into a closet while giving a speech.
But the reporters themselves shouldn’t be, since that’s exactly what Joe Biden’s aides have been reported doing to journalists on at least one occasion, when he wasn’t barking “don’t screw with me!” in response to tough questions, and ordering them to delete photos they took of events.
If that behavior is acceptable to Biden’s fellow Democrats with bylines, then it should also be acceptable to reporters covering a former vice presidential nominee as well. Particularly when Biden serves under a president who has been praised by the son of Saul Alinsky, the author of Rules for Radicals, which states, “make the enemy live up to its own book of rules,” “a good tactic is one your people enjoy,” and “ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
Bet Sarah Palin knows Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals as well? Me too.
And considering that John Nance Garner once described his stint as vice-president under FDR as not being worth “a bucket of warm spit” — with that last word a paraphrase — get the feeling that Palin is having as much more fun these days than the actual vice president? Me too.
Almost as much fun as Bill Whittle is having as “Mr. Virtual President.”
