It was easy to see who the more popular presidential candidate was with the factory workers at a Whirlpool plant in Amiens, France, today. Jobs are at risk at the plant because production of tumble dryers is going to be moved to Poland.

En Marche! candidate Emmanuel Macron was heckled and booed by striking factory workers during the campaign visit to the plant, which is in his hometown.

But earlier in the day, rival National Front candidate Marine Le Pen made an unannounced visit to the picket line, and she was warmly received by blue collar employees who gathered around the candidate excitedly and wanted to take selfies with her.

“Everyone knows what side Emmanuel Macron is on — he is on the side of the corporations,” Le Pen said. “I am on the workers’ side, here in the car park, not in the restaurants of Amiens.”
