Multiple people were shot at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department confirmed Friday afternoon. According to NBC Miami, at least three people were killed and as many as nine people were shot between terminals 2 and 3. Around 200 people from the terminals ran outside onto the tarmac to escape the shooter and were going to be transferred to another location, but after an hour they were allowed back into the terminal.
One person is in custody, authorities said. There has been nothing reported yet on the shooter’s motivation.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer happened to be traveling from the airport, and tweeted out following:

The police said there is one shooter and five victims.
