AG Loretta Lynch Expresses Interest in Planned Parenthood Videos Following Dem Letter

At a press conference Wednesday, Attorney General Loretta Lynch vowed to “review all the information” regarding the undercover sting videos of Planned Parenthood officials released by a pro-life group this week. This comes on the heels of a letter from four Democrat House members to Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris requesting that they open an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress, the group that conducted the sting.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Wednesday her department is going to review all information surrounding the controversial videos of Planned Parenthood officials taken by an anti-abortion group.

“I’m aware of those matters generally from the media, and from some inquiries that have been made to the Department of Justice, and again at this point we’re going to review all the information and determine what steps, if any, to take at the appropriate time,” Lynch said when asked about the videos at a press conference…

A number of Republican senators also sent a letter to the DOJ requesting an investigation. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and ten others say Planned Parenthood may have violated laws that ban profiting off the sale of fetal organs.

It’s hard to imagine an Obama appointee engaging in any activity that would make things awkward for the left’s holiest sacrament, however. It seems much more likely that her focus will be on the troublesome Center for Medical Progress.

As Hot Air’s Allahpundit noted, “It’d be a perfect ending to this nightmare, which involves haggling over organs removed from babies’ crushed chest cavities, if the law came down hard on the side that exposed it rather than the one that’s responsible.”

Meanwhile, California Attorney General Harris took to Twitter Thursday to express her disapproval of any congressional attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, which she finds “deeply troubling.”

Also deeply troubled was White House Press Secretary John Earnest, who pointed out that “selective editing” was used to “distort” the words of the Planned Parenthood officials.

The “selective editing” defense is an especially weak one considering the full, unedited videos have been available online since they were first released.

If Earnest found anything else about the videos troubling, he didn’t mention it.
