The actor who portrayed Ensign Pavel Chekov in the latest film iteration of Star Trek has died. Anton Yelchin was found deceased early Sunday morning after an apparent accident. According to TMZ, Yelchin was noted missing by a group of friends who had expected him at a rehearsal. Upon arriving at his San Fernando Valley home to investigate, they discovered his body pinned between his car and a pillar on the grounds.
Law enforcement tells us the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline. It’s unclear why he got out of the car.
Cops do not suspect foul play.
Yelchin was 27.
While perhaps not a household name, Yelchin was a prolific young actor regarded as a talented up-and-comer in the film industry. According to his IMDB page, Yelchin has five films yet to release, including the third installment of his rebooted sci-fi franchise, Star Trek Beyond.
