Godzilla vs. Kong Film Coming in 2020

Rumors have been circulating for some time now of an eventual crossover between the new Godzilla franchise and the forthcoming reboot of King Kong. The prospect seemed unlikely given rights issues. Now, Collider reports:

It’s official: the monsters Godzilla and King Kong will be doing battle on the big screen. Legendary Pictures announced today that following the release of Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla 2 in 2018, they’ll be partnering with Warner Bros. to produce Godzilla vs. Kong for a 2020 release date, confirming a trio of interconnected films and a new monster universe.

The new Kong film was being produced under Universal, but will now come back under Warner Bros.’ umbrella. Skull Island boasts a remarkable cast including, Tom Hiddleston (a.k.a Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes alum Toby Kebbell.
