Here is a little background on the trial that began just last week.

The jury reached its verdict this morning.

10:45 a.m.

A jury has convicted an actor who played a police officer on TV of second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife in Los Angeles.

The verdict was read Tuesday after the weeklong trial of Michael Jace.

Jace’s lawyers acknowledged that he killed his wife April and argued that he should be convicted of voluntary manslaughter because it wasn’t a premeditated act.

A prosecutor, however, told jurors that Jace was upset because his wife wanted a divorce and shot her in the back before taunting her and shooting her in the legs two years ago.

Jace told detectives he didn’t intend to kill his wife and only wanted to inflict pain.

The trial featured some chilling testimony from his young son about what he heard Jace say that night. The actor now faces forty years to life in prison.
