Sedition Must Have Consequences

The media absolutely loves the most recent scandal with an official of the Trump Administration seemingly announcing a seditious conspiracy within the government. Bless their hearts.

It’s getting harder and harder to deny the fact that what we are witnessing is a bloodless (so far) coup d’etat against the elected president of the United States.  Bone up on the 25^th Amendment to the Constitution’s procedures to remove a duly elected president, because you are going to be hearing much about it from cable news over the next few weeks.

The New York Times’ anonymous columnist likely has access to classified information as a senior official and is likely guilty of undermining the constitutional authority of the office of the president as mapped out in Article II of the U.S. Constitution.  Funny how when a person is a “whistleblower” during, say, the Obama Administration, they are driven into exile for fear of harsh prosecution, yet this embedded freak will likely be rewarded with a massive book deal and called a hero by the chattering class on cable TV after they come out and plunge the knife deeper into the back of the President and his loyalists.

Imagine if there was an official in the Obama Administration who disclosed information about the President violating the Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution that ended up in the Washington Post? What do you think they would have done about it? There would have been swift consequences as the nation cheered it on.

In 2013, Edward Snowden blew the whistle on government policies by reaching out to Glenn Greenwald of The Guardian and Laura Poitras. The former CIA operative and subcontractor for the National Security Agency (NSA) disclosed a massive surveillance program that gathered up phone calls and data from American citizens without warrants based on ‘probable cause.’  Snowden’s reward? President Obama had his Justice Department charge him with the theft of government property and charges under the Espionage Act that would have thrown Snowden’s trial out of the public eye and into a secret tribunal. Edward Snowden is a hero for his efforts to change American law to get a bit closer to the 4^th Amendment idea that the government does not have a right to gather up phone calls and data from American citizens without a warrant based on probable cause.

Snowden, though, was demonized by President Obama.  CNN reported on August 13, 2013 “even as he announced changes to the NSA programs, including the appointment of an independent government review, at a news conference on Friday, Obama suggested Americans would be better off if they hadn’t found out that the government collects vast amounts of phone and Internet data. ‘No, I don’t think Mr. Snowden was a patriot,’ Obama said. A bit earlier he had argued that his administration was already in the process of reviewing the programs that most Americans didn’t know existed. The leaks, he said, hurt that process. ‘I called for a thorough review of our surveillance operations before Mr. Snowden made these leaks,’ Obama said. ‘My preference, and I think the American people’s preference, would have been for a lawful, orderly examination of these laws; a thoughtful fact-based debate that would then lead us to a better place.”

While many constantly fact check President Donald J. Trump, in retrospect, nobody really believes that President Obama, who allowed these programs to operate for years into his presidency, was aiming to change a damn thing, but for the whistleblowing efforts of Edward Snowden.

Now we enter a new era where some entirely unaccountable mole rat who trumpets a conspiracy within the Trump Administration to undermine the elected President of the United States is granted Op Ed column space in the New York Times. Failed 2004 Democratic presidential nominee and former Obama Secretary of State John Kerry cited the Op Ed on “The Late Show” when he said “it scared the hell out of me. You know what it really means, Stephen, is that we don’t really have a president. We have a president who is there, but he’s not capable of doing the job or living up to the responsibilities.”  Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) cited the Op Ed as authority that “Trump is unfit to lead our great nation.” Most on the left love the Op Ed but are calling for the Trump traitor to come out of the closet and reveal more. The left has almost uniformly taken the position that the Op Ed is accurate, yet they want to call the Op Ed writer names to troll this person into revealing themselves, so Democratic operatives can use this turncoat to sabotage the 2018 fall elections.

So sad that partisan hacks in Washington can’t recognize the true heroism of Edward Snowden who changed policy in America for the better, versus the new anonymous never-Trumper working for the president who is bragging about a seditious conspiracy within the Administration and whom, when identified, should pay.  One reason is that President Obama has been declared one of the great presidents of our lifetime by the elite media in Washington and they can’t ever admit that he was a duplicitous fake progressive when it came to using force without Congressional approval in Libya, terror Tuesday star chamber sessions on who to drone and his continuation of warrantless wiretapping that he claimed to oppose.

Now, we have a person in the White House who is being protected by the New York Times who has declared an intent to undermine, and potentially remove the President of the United States based upon some unknown personal agenda. Great. Just great.

Find the person, and prosecute the person. If it takes raiding and shutting down The New York Times to do so, then so be it. Sedition is not, and can never be, OK.
