One of the very first moves Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should make in January to stop unconstitutional, harmful, and unnecessary government spending is cutting programs to fund abortion and transgenderism.
The Fourteenth Amendment states clearly that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” Abortion is therefore anti-constitutional, as science has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that unborn babies are fully human from the moment of conception. Furthermore, abortion not only brutally kills an infant, but has numerous awful psychological and physical effects on the mothers. It is long past time to end any government funding of or support for abortion, and DOGE can aim to do so.
Live Action founder Lila Rose posted on Nov. 16, tagging DOGE heads Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, “Planned Parenthood got $670 MILLION taxpayer dollars in the last reported year. Best place to start defunding bloated government is stop paying abortion clinics that kill babies, hand out transgender hormones and birth control pills that make women sick!”

Indeed, hormonal contraceptives can cause mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and even abortion. Contraceptives raise the risk of breast cancer, “cervical cancer, liver cancer, premature hypertension and coronary artery disease leading to heart attacks and strokes, thromboembolism/pulmonary embolism… decreased libido, infertility, leg cramps, gallstone formation, nausea, and bloatedness.” And that doesn’t even address the issues of how birth control makes it easier for men to have no-consequences sex (hence traffickers’ fondness for contraception), how it encourages sexual promiscuity. As for “transgender treatments,” they are physically and emotionally harmful. The majority of “transgenders” are depressed, and cross-sex hormones are tied to suicidal ideation.
Even worse, of course, is abortion, which is always and quite simply murder. Surgical abortion involves dismembering and/or beheading a baby in the womb and sometimes involves crushing a baby’s head or poisoning him. Abortion pills, meanwhile, essentially starve the baby to death. But women suffer from abortion, too. At least 27 women have died, and 3,000 women have reportedly been hospitalized after taking abortion pills.
Furthermore, abortion is tied to an increased risk of mental health problems for women, including a higher risk of depression — even if the pregnancies were unwanted. Evidence from “doctors, researchers, counselors and victims of sexual abuse” shows that abortion just adds to the trauma of rape victims, and women, especially teens, who get abortions are more at risk of suicide, self-harm, PTSD, and trauma — even for years afterwards.
Birth control pills, transgender “treatments,” and abortion pills are all harmful. What possible justification could there be for funding them with taxpayer money? DOGE can truly make a difference for the better in Americans’ health and happiness if it targets programs pushing or funding abortion, contraception, or transgenderism.
