WEF Lauds Al Gore’s Leadership Despite Decades of FAILED Climate Predictions

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is celebrating the climate “leadership” of former U.S. vice resident, failed presidential candidate, and climate alarmist Al Gore. But Gore has decades worth of completely failed climate predictions behind him — in fact, the only success he has in the field of climate activism is that he received a Nobel Peace Prize and many millions of dollars for his totally unscientific fearmongering.

WEF, of the plan for you to “own nothing, have no privacy” and supposedly enjoy it, so admires Al Gore that the erstwhile VP is still on its board of trustees. Furthermore, WEF also published a recent piece with the nauseating title “5 leaders and the turning points that changed their leadership approach.” Why was the title nauseating? Because Gore was one of the featured “leaders.” From WEF:

When former US Vice President Al Gore organized his first congressional hearing on the climate crisis, he invited a professor and climate scientist who had inspired him greatly in his college years. Yet, the professor’s presentation fell short of having the same effect on his audience of representatives. Gore realized then that he had to find other ways of capturing people’s imaginations.

“It’s the old cliché, a picture's worth a thousand words. I found that a slideshow is worth a thousand speeches if it's done well. And then I was approached by some folks in Hollywood to make my slideshow into a movie. I thought that was a silly idea. I couldn't see how it would work, but they have more talent than I counted.”

In addition to two films, Gore has also applied this storytelling approach to training 50,000 grassroots climate advocates.

In 2006, Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth” had many dire predictions to make about the allegedly imminent climate apocalypse. Except the real inconvenient truth is that Gore was wildly wrong in his predictions — as climate alarmists have consistently been for more than 50 years now.

We know now just how wrong Gore was because his deadlines for eco-apocalypse have passed, but it turns out it was possible even at the time “An Inconvenient Truth” was new to identify false claims in it (as the late, great Rush Limbaugh would remind us). Indeed, a UK judge who by and large was in sympathy with Gore’s attitude on “climate change” still identified no fewer than nine scientific errors in the film as far back as 2007.

According to the UK Guardian, Justice Barton identified the nine areas of concern in Gore’s film while assessing a case brought by a Kent school governor who objected to a government project to show “An Inconvenient Truth” in UK schools. Barton identified unsubstantiated claims, insufficient data, and “alarmist” assertions not founded on fact or evidence. For instance, here are two of Gore’s false claims:

Mr Gore said the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was expressly attributable to human-induced climate change. The judge said the consensus was that that could not be established…

Mr Gore also referred to a study showing that polar bears were being found that had drowned "swimming long distances to find the ice". The judge said: "The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm"

Speaking of Kilimanjaro, its glaciers have not in fact disappeared, as many climate alarmists (Gore included) warned they would. Climate alarmists are not daunted. They have simply changed the date, and the internet is full of assertions that the glaciers could well melt by 2040 or 2050. Because, you know, these people have always been wrong in the past, but this time they’re definitely 100% right.

Incidentally, despite the fact Gore’s credibility was undermined in 2007, he still received the Nobel Peace Prize that year for his climate hysteria.

MRC NewsBusters noted in 2021:

“[P]redictions that [Gore’s] movie made have not come close to happening, as Mt. Kilimanjaro has continued to have plenty of snow and Glacier National Park had to quietly remove a sign predicting the ice would be gone by 2020, not to mention the polar bears that have thrived in the past 15 years.”

For a more detailed scientific and data-filled analysis of Gore’s false claims, you can look at a list that Junk Science’s Steve Milloy provided in 2022 based off the speech Gore gave when he won the Nobel Peace Prize (2007). In fact, I  found recent data that also disproves Gore’s claims.

For instance, one of Gore’s hysterical assertions was, “The earth has a fever. And the fever is rising.” Actually, NASA satellite and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data shows that there hasn’t been global warming in more than eight years.

Again, Gore fearmongered, “Last September 21, as the Northern Hemisphere tilted away from the sun, scientists reported with unprecedented distress that the North Polar ice cap is ‘falling off a cliff.’ One study estimated that it could be completely gone during summer in less than 22 years. Another new study, to be presented by U.S. Navy researchers later this week, warns it could happen in as little as 7 years. Seven years from now.” That was 2007, and one of Gore’s deadlines has passed. Not only that, the European Union’s 2021 Copernicus report found that Arctic ice was making a comeback, at only “3% below the average for the 1991–2020 reference period,” and “well above the very low values seen in 2012 and 2020.”

Ultimately, Gore is a total fraud. But he is never going to admit that because climate alarmism has been too lucrative for him. The UK Daily Mail announced in January that Gore had made a whopping $330 million from climate alarmism. Not to mention no one would remember him anymore if he weren’t a climate activist. By promoting Gore, WEF only proves yet again that it cares more for woke politics than it does for scientific truth.
