Monica Lewinsky Says Bill Clinton Encouraged Her to Lie Under Oath: 'I Did Feel Uncomfortable About It'

The extent of misconduct by President Bill Clinton and his attempted cover-up are still being revealed two decades later. Into the 2000s it became conventional wisdom that Republicans, seeking vengeance for losing the presidential election, vindictively prosecuted and persecuted Bill. In the #MeToo era, some of the re-written history has slowly been undone as people have finally admitted, “hey maybe giving Democrats a pass on being sexual predators hasn’t been the best plan.”

But the story isn’t over, and now Monica Lewinsky is adding another layer. In addition to his own lying under oath, which has already been established and was the basis of his impeachment hearing, Bill, who was an attorney, also tried to suborn perjury from Lewinsky over the affair.

Fox News reported today on the final episode of the A&E documentary, “The Clinton Affair,” where Lewinsky revealed that the president encouraged her to agree to lie about the affair and deny it, should she be asked to testify in another sexual harassment case against him, that of Paula Jones.

Lewinsky said that Clinton had called her at 2:30 in the morning to let her know that she was on the witness list for the Paula Jones case.

“I was petrified. I was frantic about my family and this becoming public,” Lewinsky tearfully recalled. “Thankfully, Bill helped me walk myself back from that and he said I could probably sign an affidavit to get out of it, and he didn’t even know if a 100 percent I would be subpoenaed.”

She was subpoenaed a few days later.

There’s a lot more, too. According to her account, she met with lawyer Frank Carter, who told her that if she signed an affidavit falsely stating she had not had an “intimate relationship” with Clinton, then she probably wouldn’t have to testify. “I did feel uncomfortable about it,” she says in the documentary, “but I felt it was the right thing to do, ironically, right? So, the right thing to do, to break the law.”

She also revealed that after her decision to lie, she was invited to the Oval Office for a private Christmas celebration. “We kind of all played around with Buddy in the office and then we went into the back study and we had a Christmas kiss,” she says.

This is off the charts creep factor.

Just last month on “CBS News Sunday Morning,” Hillary Clinton said that Bill’s affair was not an example of “abuse of power.”

Sure sounds like one to me.
