Buzz Ballad: Gay Activists Hate Indiana

Gay Activists Hate Indiana
—apologies to James F. Hanley and Ballard MacDonald, and “Back Home Again in Indiana”

I have always been tolerant
Of other folks’ ways
So should same-sex couples marry
I am in no way fazed
But they cannot extort
From me, coerced support

Gay activists hate Indiana
For its stand on liberty
They are offended the First Amendment
Has religious guarantees
Activists may assert with flagrance
Their right to a nuptial bed
But the right to free conscience is not a gay bash,
And that is all that Indiana said

Your right to your orientation
Is freedom all hold dear
But to compel approbation
Seems a little queer
In a land that is free
There’s no such tyranny

Gay activists hate Indiana
For its stand on liberty
They are offended the First Amendment
Has religious guarantees
Activists may assert with flagrance
Their right to a nuptial bed
But the right to free conscience is not a gay bash,
And that is all that Indiana said

It seems that it is impossible to find a version of “Indiana” where someone sings the verses. But they’re included anyway.
