A new poll finds that a majority believe President Obama was intentionally trying to intimidate the Supreme Court last week:
A 56 percent majority of voters think the president was trying to intimidate the Supreme Court when he publicly commented on the health care case and referred to the justices as “an unelected group of people.” Forty percent disagree. Most Republicans (81 percent), a majority of independents (61 percent) and more than a quarter of Democrats (29 percent) believe Obama was trying to strong-arm the justices.

Most voters want at least part of the law overturned. Some 42 percent think the Supreme Court should toss out the whole law, while 24 percent take the middle ground and think the court should keep most of it but rule the mandate for Americans to buy health insurance as unconstitutional. About one voter in four thinks the court should uphold the law as is (27 percent).
It’s early in November terms, but the president may be hardening a majority that will be skeptical of everything he does from now on. A majority already dislikes ObamaCare, and many polls show a consistent majority disapproving of his job performance. He whispered love to Putin, angered Catholics over the abortifacient mandate, and this week has been doing damage control over Hilary Rosen’s attack on moms. A pretty bad beginning to the real campaign, all in all. And to think, Obama thought he was throwing wicked strikes with at least two of these pitches, only to see them smashed over the wall.
But it is early, far too early for over confidence. Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish is living proof that you can get shelled in the first inning and still walk away the winner.
