Red state vs blue state

Compare and contrast: This week, the Democrat dominated Illinois legislature jacked up income taxes on residents by an astounding 66%, and the Democratic governor of that state is delighted.  In Texas, according to sources in Austin the Republican dominated House has voted today to slash members’ staff spending by 10% during session and 14% in the interim.  And the Republican governor has pledged to balance the state’s budget without raising taxes.
