WASHINGTON — The White House said today that President Obama will be increasing his campaign stops and ads on behalf of Hillary Clinton and congressional Dems between now and Election Day.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Obama is making a case “focused on turning people out” to the polls.

“And this is a case that will build, you know, through the month of October in support of the candidate that he believes so strongly in,” he said. “So, I think we’ll evaluate the effectiveness of the president’s case on Election Day.”

Earnest confirmed that “through October the president will be increasing his involvement in this race.”

“And that doesn’t just mean through travel. That also means the president will be more engaged – or I guess I’d say, feature more prominently in some of the advertising efforts of Secretary Clinton, of the Democrats across the country,” he said.

“But the president’s made clear that he wants to do as much as he can to support Secretary Clinton in her campaign, and that’s what we’ll do. But largely, our cues for how to do that will be taken from the campaign and Secretary Clinton’s advisers who are formulating that strategy.”

The press secretary said voters should expect to “hear the president continue to warn against complacency,” like in his recent remarks to the Congressional Black Caucus.

“I also think you’re going to hear the president deliver a message similar to the one he delivered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program earlier today in which he made a case to the American people that it’s important to get involved in our democracy. And that our democracy benefits from that regardless of who people choose to support,” Earnest said.

“Now, the president’s obviously got his own very strong view about who he believes people should support and he’ll make his case accordingly. But he believes that our democracy is improved when more people are engaged, and he’ll continue to make that case as well. The president will have ample opportunity to make that case and I think the president feels good about the current trajectory of the race.”

Obama was attending a closed-press DNC event today in Washington. Vice President Joe Biden was campaigning for Clinton in Philadelphia today, while first lady Michelle Obama will rally supporters there Wednesday.
