Saturday Night Live opened its show last night with a first-class mocking of Hillary Clinton’s drive to win the New York primary during her losing streak.
“It’s true, I have not been winning as of late; in fact, I have not won a state in almost three weeks because that was the plan,” the Clinton character, played by Kate McKinnon, says. “I didn’t want to win those so I didn’t.”
She struggles to form the word “lose.”
When she muses that she’s probably lost two or three states lately, a repairman shows up to fix seven holes in her wall.
“It humanizes me. I’m the underdog now,” she rationalizes. “I’m this election’s ‘Rudy.’ And I like that. After all, I don’t want to be a big ol’ B and win every state; that’s no fun.”
McKinnon’s Clinton character then panders to New Yorkers with a Yankees-Mets reversible hat and N.Y. eats.
The skit then mocks Hillary’s trouble last week getting through a subway turnstile.
She quips that she’s just like New Yorkers because “when I’m running, I hate it when a slow, old Jew gets in my way.”
The Clinton character goes on to mock the sparrow that landed on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) podium at a Portland rally last month by whipping out a stuffed Game of Thrones raven. “Her message is clear: If you don’t vote for me on April 19, winter is coming.”
