Chronicling the ongoing intersectional struggle to liberate women — progressively defined to include the legacy kind and the transgender variety — from The Patriarchy™, one microaggression at a time.

‘Mattress girl’ enters the chat

As if the Cornell 7 fake rape victim “Jane Doe” weren’t already thoroughly discredited enough for anyone willing to look into the most basic facts about the case, notorious rape hoaxer and “journalist” (emphasis on the quotation marks) Tara Palmeri, the one who broke the debunked “Mattress Girl” rape story back in 2013, invited Mattress Girl herself, AKA Emma Sulkowicz, to really put the final nail in the coffin on the current Jane Doe’s rape hoax.

Sulkowicz, a “visual arts” major, became the first fake rape victim in history, perhaps, to transform her fever-dream into performance art, rendering herself overnight into a feminist pop sensation.

The shamelessness of these people is beyond the pale, nearly defies verbal description, and speaks to the cultural license they believe they enjoy; Tara Palmeri is to journalism what Gloria Allred is to law; Sulkowicz is to feminism what Juicy Smollett is to racial justice.

How weak was Mattress girl’s case?

So weak that, when the Washington Post was forced to report on the settlement the university arrived at with the fake perpetrator after his life was destroyed, it didn’t even attempt its usual trick of subtly validating the fake rape victim’s story even in the face of an avalanche of exculpatory evidence.

Via Washington Post (emphasis added):

Columbia University has settled a Title IX lawsuit filed by a former male student whose case attracted national attention after a young woman protested against the administration’s handling of her sexual assault allegations by carrying a mattress around campus.

A lawyer representing Columbia graduate Paul Nungesser issued a statement announcing a settlement in the case that dated to 2015. The lawsuit stemmed from what Nungesser described as gender discrimination on the part of the university after Emma Sulkowicz became known as the “mattress girl,” in what she called an artistic rendering of her dismay with the administration’s handling of her allegations. Sulkowicz claimed that Nungesser, a classmate, had raped her during her sophomore year in 2012. But after a university investigation, Nungesser was cleared…

Nungesser’s case also served to highlight the rising number of lawsuits filed by young men concerning whether universities equitably adjudicate allegations of rape…

Sulkowicz, who was not named as a party in the case, did not return multiple requests for comment.

In a statement issued after the settlement, Columbia acknowledged that Nungesser was found not responsible for sexual misconduct “after a diligent and thorough investigation… Columbia University stands by that finding,” officials wrote. Police also declined to pursue charges against Nungesser.

As I always advise fake rape victims in my PR side-hustle consulting work, when even the Washington Post will no longer go to bat for you as a fake rape victim, you know you’ve lost the narrative war, and it’s probably best to just pack it in.

Gotta know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em.
