DEI Deathwatch Vol. XXVI: The MSNBC Race Lady Strikes Back

Chronicling the creeping demise of Diversity™, Equity™, and Inclusion™, otherwise known as institutionalized racism.

You’ll never believe what Joy Ann Reid blames her MSNBC firing on

Tucker Carlson didn’t bestow upon Joy Ann Reid the title of “MSNBC Race Lady” for no reason; she’s earned it in spades.

In a fawning and vomit-inducing slobberfest with fellow corporate state media actress Katie Couric, Reid suggested in no uncertain terms that she was let go from MSNBC for being a “black woman.”

Listening to Reid, one could be forgiven for assuming that she grew up in urban squalor, hustling to make ends meet while the white man kept her down.

In reality, her college-educated immigrant parents — her mother a college professor and her father an engineer — met in graduate school in Iowa City, later relocating to Denver before sending her to Harvard to study film.

You know, just your standard African-American experience.

Reid was born Joy-Ann Lomena in Brooklyn, New York City. Her father was from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and her mother a college professor and nutritionist from Guyana. Her parents met in graduate school at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Reid was raised Methodist and has one sister and one brother. Her father was an engineer who was mostly absent from the family; her parents eventually divorced and her father returned to the Congo. She was raised mostly in Denver, Colorado, until the age of 17, when her mother died of breast cancer and she moved to Flatbush, Brooklyn, to live with an aunt. Reid graduated from Harvard University in 1991 with a concentration in film studies.

Navy ship named after LGBTQ+++™ icon rebranded

Do sailors in the U.S. military not suffer enough already under the stereotype that they all turn homosexual whilst away at sea?

Having one of their ships named after a celebrated gay probably isn’t helping stamp that out.

Via Military.com (emphasis added):

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to take the rare step of renaming a ship, one that bears the name of a gay rights icon, documents and sources show.

Military.com reviewed a memorandum from the Office of the Secretary of the Navy -- the official who holds the power to name Navy ships -- that showed the sea service had come up with rollout plans for the renaming of the oiler ship USNS Harvey Milk.

A defense official confirmed that the Navy was making preparations to strip the ship of its name but noted that Navy Secretary John Phelan was ordered to do so by Hegseth. The official also said that the timing of the announcement -- occurring during Pride month -- was intentional.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, where Harvey Milk practiced his gay activism, is none too pleased.

“In San Francisco, we take great pride that our Harvey’s name adorns a mighty ship among a new class of Navy vessels – named for the conscience of the Congress, John Lewis – which honor titans in the fight for freedom. The names of those who fought for civil rights and human rights bring luster to these ships – as their leadership brought luster to America,” per a press release from her office.

Karine Jean-Pierre hawks new book, allegedly metamorphoses into ‘independent’

Given her notorious struggles with the pre-written notecards she almost definitely practiced reading multiple times backstage at the behest of her handlers desperate to avoid their near-daily humiliation at her hands from the podium, no one believes this lady wrote a word of her book herself.

My speculation is that she proved herself worse than useless as a political operative during her disastrous tenure as press secretary — though she couldn’t be gotten rid of for DEI optics — and so her only career trajectory is as a legacy media hack.

If that’s true, then rebranding herself as an “independent,” which is chic in the current political climate, makes more sense than it might appear.

Whoever is running her PR might be on to something.
