The above observation arguably applies more appropriately, ironically, to the Western government-media complex of the 21st century than even to the Soviet system it originally referenced — the Washington Post being at least as untrustworthy as Pravda, if not more.

The gist of CNN news actor Jake Tapper’s new gossipy tell-all, “Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” — about five years too late, as all of us with eyes have known about Joe Biden’s status for well over half a decade — is that the dastardly insiders at the White House lied and duped the poor, put-upon press about the alleged president’s health status.
In doing so —which is the ultimate point of the exercise in addition to garnering fame and making money — Tapper absolves himself and his entire cadre of corporate state media stenographers and actors of any responsibility to tell the truth. Also, by pinning the blame on about five top White House operatives, he also absolves the Democrat Party at large, obscuring the fact that the entire establishment from top to bottom, including Jake himself, is rotten to the core.
It's also permissible now, in the cult within Tapper operates, to throw the Bidens under the bus, as they have run their course and it looks like Joe isn’t long for the world at any rate.
In short, the book and all of its fanfare is what the internet kids call a “limited hangout.”
Megyn Kelly absolutely wrecked Tapper in a recent appearance hawking his book.
But that lashing was to be expected; Tapper took it on the chin in the service of trying to move some product outside of CNN’s rapidly dwindling audience.What is somewhat more surprising is the total lack of credulity granted across virtually any sliver of the media ecosystem.
The deception and gaslighting revealed by the years-long cover-up of Biden’s medical status has finally begun to bear the inevitable fruit: no one, almost literally, trusts the corporate state media and Democrat Party (a redundant phrase and meaningless distinction).
Look at the comments on any CNN video pimping the book and you’ll find an ocean of wall-to-wall condemnation:
- “I love how CNN acts like they weren't one of the main contributors.”
- “All of you at CNN and other outlets played a part in this cover up. To pretend as though you’re all surprised is disingenuous.”
- “You are an accomplice CNN.”

As we all knew would happen, the cretinous Democrats and their media comrades seized on the opportunity to take advantage of the revelation, calling for everyone to stop asking any critical questions on humanitarian grounds, because the principle magically came down with cancer that takes a decade to develop into its current alleged state, having metastasized to the bones.
The wildly implausible “we just found out Biden has prostate cancer” story, even though it takes many long years to metastasize to the bones, likewise, has engendered extreme skepticism even in corners that would otherwise be partisan to the Democrat party.
Even the carcinogenic The Young Turks, who have historically run cover for the Democrats and have viciously smeared critics of the party as “conspiracy theorists” for asking obvious questions, speculated recently that Biden’s handlers might not be totally honest about when they and his doctors knew he had prostate cancer.
What I’m driving at is: while there have been many would-be watersheds moments in the past few years that might have demarcated the point at which the legacy media forfeited all of its credibility, full-stop — Iraq WMDs, Russiagate, the Hunter laptop story, just to name a few — looking back, the Biden dementia cover-up and the subsequent clean-up job attempted by Jake Tapper and Co. might go down as the ultimate emperor-has-no-clothes moment.There is no clawing their way back to credibility now. The legacy media is finished. They might cling bitterly to relevance for a time longer, propped up by obscene amounts of pharmaceutical ad spending and sputtering along on the legacy coattails of legitimacy, but the trajectory is clear.
What comes next to fill the vacuum — particularly with the advent of AI and all of its reality-distorting downstream effects — is anyone’s guess.
